Are you or is someone you know removing asbestos? Here are the 5 key items that you will need to ensure the asbestos is removed correctly and safely!

 

1. Asbestos Bags 

It is a requirement that all asbestos removed is placed inside a 200um asbestos bag. These bags vary in sizes depending on how much asbestos you will be removing. These bags need to be printed with an asbestos warning label. The printing is required to be in red and must read 'Danger Asbestos Dust - Do not inhale dust may cause lung cancer - Do not puncture bag'

2. Black Plastic

When removing asbestos it is essential to encapsulate asbestos sheeting in areas where limpet asbestos is removed. Black plastic is often used as a floor covering. Once finished, You can close the plastic and remove safely ensuring there is no risk of contamination. 

3. P2 Masks with Valve

Wearing a P2 Mask with valve when removing AC asbestos sheeting will ensure that no asbestos dust is inhaled and reduces any risk of cancer and other risks.

4. Asbestos Warning Tape

Taping off the area whilst removing asbestos is hightly recommended to ensure others know that the area is currently contaminated with asbestos. This will avoid un-aware people from entering area and inhaling any asbestos dust.

5. SMS Overalls & SMS Boot Covers

Asbestos grade overalls and boot covers are required when removing asbestos as the dust can contaminate clothing which may lead to the person removing the asbestos to inhale the asbestos dust and spread the dust around. Spreading the dust around can be deadly to themselves and others.
